SHILLONG: The Director of School Education and Literacy, Ambrose Marak has issued show-cause notices to all the ‘tainted’ LP school teachers aimed at their removal.
The action is following the recommendation of the High Level Scrutiny Committee to remove the tainted teachers who got appointment by way of correction of their marks during the tenure of former Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
It was the CBI inquiry which established anomalies in the appointment of teachers in 2009-10.
The High Level Scrutiny Committee segregated the tainted and the non-tainted teachers to enable the Education department to take action against those who got appointments through unfair means.
The Government has given its nod for necessary action based on the recommendation of   Committee and also by the order of Meghalaya High Court.
Once the tainted teachers are removed, there will be appointment of the deserving candidates.
In the show-cause notices issued to all the tainted teachers on December 20, Marak said that the teachers should reply to the show cause in writing to him within January 10 next as to why their appointments made in 2010 should not be terminated.
If the candidates fail to respond to the show cause, action will be taken as per law, the notice said.
It was based on Meghalaya High Court order on August 16,2012 that the High Level  Scrutiny Committee was formed to scrutinize the process of appointment of teachers made in 2009-10
The   Committee scrutinized the records and found that many candidates were illegally appointed.
The Education Director reminded the tainted teachers in his show cause notice that it is based on the  recommendations of the High Level Scrutiny Committee and the order of the Meghalaya High Court that the Government is taking action against them.
