SHILLONG: With the mushrooming of militant groups in Garo Hills coupled with growing violent incidents, the ANVC, which is currently under ceasefire, has offered to negotiate on behalf of splinter groups with Government to end unrest in Garo Hills.
“We request the GNLA, UALA or any other groups in Garo Hills to take our help if they want to reach out to the Government to solve their demands”, ANVC publicity secretary Arist Sangma said on Friday.
Sangma, however, said that only with the approval of the Government, the ANVC would be able to help other militants if they want any solution to their demands.
“As a parent organization, we consider other splinter groups as our children and they can always take our help to come to the mainstream”, Sangma said.
It was former ANVC leader Sohan Shira long with former deputy superintendent of police Champion Sangma who formed GNLA.
There was also further division within ANVC after Rimpu Marak and Mukost Marak decided to form ANVC (B). The rift in ANVC (B) resulted in the formation of United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA).
There are also reports that the newly formed Achik Tiger Force was formed by some ANVC cadres.
