Appointment of new NEHU VC

Shillong: The Ministry for Human Resources Development has appointed a Search Committee for selection of the new Vice-Chancellor North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
The Committee comprising Prof Sudhir Sopory Vice Chancellor JNU, as member convener with Dr. Mustansir, Director Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai, and A. H. Scott Lyngdoh, former Home Minister, as members met at Delhi on December 11, 2013.
The Committee unanimously decided that the post be advertised and also that letters be sent to eminent persons for nominations. Criteria for selection as laid down in the advertisement will be issued shortly.
It may be reminded that a NEHU has been functioning under a caretaker VC, Prof P Shukla since Prof AN Rai left in June this year to take over as Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
