SHILLONG: A fighting Nongthymmai SCC defeated United XI by 23 runs in a league match of the SCA Super Division Cricket League at the Cricket Ground, Polo on Saturday.
Chasing a far less than mammoth total of 133, United faltered and were bundled out for 110 runs in 34 overs. Wallam Nongkhlaw did maximum damage claiming four wickets for 13 runs of his five overs. Mark Ingty, meanwhile, top scored for United with a dogged 33 of 60 balls.
Earlier, United won the toss and put Nongthymmai into bat. Andrew Thabah’s magical figure of 7/19 in 7.5 overs meant that the opposition was restricted to 133 runs in 33.5 overs. Kunal Lama (39 of 62 balls) top scored for Nongthymmai.
But the modest total proved to be more than enough in the end to contain the famed United XI side.
In the next first division match Venom Speed will play Young Guns.
