TURA: A GNLA cadre and four over ground workers of the militant outfit were arrested by police in West Garo Hills on Saturday.
The GNLA cadre identified as Johny A Marak alias Goera (21), a resident of Boldak Ading, Tura was arrested from Tura while he was trying to extort money from businessmen on Saturday.
Police recovered from his possession one 7.65 pistol, 5 live ammunition, demand note, and cell phones.
On his lead, another 4 over ground workers of GNLA were arrested and they have been identified as Gendaram Sangma, Nipin Marak, Krishna Subba and Cherak Sangma, all residents of Mandalgre.
