SHILLONG: Governor Dr KK Paul has underlined the need to revise the parameters of National Service Scheme.
Addressing the inaugural function of the five-day North East National Service Scheme Festival organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Paul said that the parameters have to be revised in this age of social media.
While asserting that flexibility has to be brought in the NSS, Paul stressed that innovation clubs should be formed where solutions can be found for day-to-day problems that bug people.
According to Paul, youths play an important role in the future of the country and therefore investments have to be made in activities that concern them.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo said that 64 colleges in the state have indicated rapid growth in the scheme even as he said the NSS has become stronger today.
A total number of 350 National Service Scheme volunteers from various parts of the North East are participating in the Festival.
