Wonderers FC blitz Rangiakhun

SHILLONG: Wonderers FC (Laban) stormed past Rangiakhun FC (Nongmynsong) 8-1 in the Meghalaya Open Football Championship, held at Malki Ground on Wednesday.
Boy Rani scored four goals (24th minute, 34th, 43rd, 61st), with Teibok Ryntathiang recording a brace (66th and 69th). Isak Lairemtluanga (9th) and Robert Nongrum (45th) were the other scorers.
Ieidri Iawphniaw had scored for Rangiakhun early on in the 21st minute before Wonderers ran away with the match, scoring seven in a row.
In the afternoon fixture, Hynniewtrep Combine FC (Malki) came through 5-3 on penalties against Risa Combined FC.
Full time had ended 2-2 in a very even contest.
Manbhalang Lapang opened the scoring for the Malki team in the 43rd minute before Risa Combined equalised three minutes later via Basu L Mawphlang.
Nick Dann then scored for Risa in the 67th minute, but their lead did not last long, with Tony Nongrum equalising just two minutes later.
Thursday’s matches will see Lapalang Sports Cultural Club play Nongkhyriem FC at 11:00am before Jaintia United FC take on Promising FC (Malki) at 1:30pm.
