Seven ultras arrested; arms seized

Diphu: In stepped-up counter-insurgency operations, seven ultras of different groups were arrested in separate raids in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district and a large quantity of arms and ammunition recovered.
In a joint operation by Indian army and police, two hardcore cadres of NDFB(S) were arrested on Sunday from a hideout of Borthol locality, under Hamren police station.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Subaw Daimari and Agar Swargiary.
One AK 47 rifle with 21 bullets and one .32 pistol along with 2 magazines and 11 bullets have been seized from them.
In another operation, acting on tip-off, security forces nabbed three KPLT (Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers) cadres from Dolamara locality, under Borpathar police station, yesterday.
The arrested militants have been identified as ‘area commander’ of Diring area Bijoy Terang, cadre Robin Engti and Lawrence Terang.
One 7.65 mm pistol and few bullets, four mobile phones and a large quantity of extortion notes have been seized from them.
In a third operation, one KNLA ( Karbi National Liberation Army) cadre, identified as Joy Bey, was apprehended by a team of Dokmoka police on Saturday last.
Another KNLA cadre, identified as Kangbura Bey, was arrested from village Longki Bey under Baithalangso police station on Sunday. (UNI)
