SHILLONG: The Directorate of Housing, Meghalaya, has lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS against the State Finance Department alleging misappropriation of funds.
Taking cognizance of the Special Audit Report for the year 2002-2003 till 2008-2009 in connection with the procurement of CGI sheets, the Director, Housing, alleged that VAT amounting to Rs.20,31,543, which was collected in 2009, was deposited in the bank only on April 17, 2012 after an expiry of three Accounting Cycles, which amounts to misappropriation of fund.
The Housing Department is, however, maintaining a stoic silence on the issue and is unwilling to comment on the matter.
When contacted, police said  that they had just registered a case and were yet to begin investigation into the matter. The police also said that they would have to interrogate lots of individuals and examine a number of papers to get the details of the case.
