SHILLONG: Winter Hive, Niño’s a unique winter camp designed to inspire creativity and satisfy the explorer, inquirer, musician and sports person in every child concluded with a show by children on Saturday at Nongrim Hills, Shillong.
The programme meant for children of age 3 to 11 years and young tiny tots were trained in various creative activities like singing, cooking and other.
First week participants were taken on a simulated world tour, exciting Egypt and magical world of Pharaoh’s as their culminating activity and it was designed to increase the learning ability of children through an interesting and playful way
In their four week journey, children learn about their environment, natural calamities and importance of nature conservation. Children also explored cooking abilities by adorning Chef’s Hats. During the camp, a dentist and a dietician made children aware about importance of healthy food and proper dental hygiene.
Grassroots plans to regularly hold such programs in Shillong.
Neil Antonio War, MDC, Laitumkhrah, presided over the program as Chief Guest and this was first of its kind program conducted by Grassroots, Delhi in Shillong and later he also distributed certificates to the young boys and girls who participated in the winter camp.
The audience in the concluding function were mesmerized by the Egyptian dance performed by the kids besides a host of programmes were also presented by the kids.
It may be mentioned that sixty children participated in the camp out of which twenty underprivileged were sponsored by certain individuals besides five children were from the locality of Nongrim Hills itself.
