CM, Governor condole Swer’s demise

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has expressed his deepest condolence over the death of Padmashree awardee Silverine Swer, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 103.

“A pioneer in every field, Kong Silverine has led from the front setting milestones galore worth emulating by one and all. She remains a source of strength and motivation to all who strive to serve. Her demise indeed leaves an incredible vacuum that shall be very hard to fill,” Dr Sangma in a statement issued here on Sunday.

Chief Minister also conveyed deepest condolences to all her family members and loved ones while praying to the Almighty that he grants her soul an eternal peace.

Meanwhile, Governor Dr KK Paul said that the State has lost as sterling personality with the death of Swer.

He said that Kong Sil as she was popularly known had a long and distinguished career and serves the State in several important positions.

Dr Paul finally conveyed his deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved families.

LKSK remembers Swer

Lympung Ki Seng Kynthei (LKSK), the federation of women’s organisations in East Khasi Hills has condoled the death of Sylverine Swer.

The president of LKSK Theilin Phanbuh recalled the contribution of Swer, who was the founding member of LKSK during a condolence meeting held on Sunday.
