JOWAI: A sixteen-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a labour identified as Tikna Pala (23) at Thadmukoh village in West Jaintia Hills District on January 21.The accused who hailed from Pdeiniadaw village was arrested from Lakaroi village under Saitsama Police Outpost.
Police sources informed that the minor was raped on January 21 at around 12:30 pm but the matter was reported to the police only on January 29, since the accused had threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the misdeed to anyone.
In a similar incident, a 22-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person at Khliehriat East recently.
Sources informed that the unidentified person forcibly took the girl to a cowshed and committed the crime. Police have registered a case and a hunt is on to nab the criminal.
