SHILLONG: The NPP has roped in more leaders to it’s fold in the run up to the Lok Sabha and district council elections.

Social worker Rupert Momin along with thousands of his supporters joined NPP in the presence of P A Sangma, National President, Dr. W R Kharlukhi, Meghalaya State NPP President, Conrad Sangma, Meghalaya State Working President and a host of party leaders at a meeting held at Chibonga, Kharkuta constituency on Saturday.

Momin, who is a double MA with LLB and an active social worker had contested the 2013 Assembly elections and secured third position with over 5000 votes.

Momin said that PA Sangma had brought the name of Garo Hills on the map of India. “It was because of Sangma’s contribution and achievements that people elsewhere in the country respect the people of Garo Hills”, Momin said.

He appealed to the people of Kharkuta constituency to come out and wholeheartedly support NPP.

Dr. Kharlukhi expressed his happiness in welcoming Momin to NPP. He stressed on the need to strengthen the hands of a leader like P A Sangma to ensure that the people of not just Garo Hills but the entire Northeastern region find a place once again in mainland India
