509 degrees awarded

SHILLONG: In a colourful, traditional but serene ceremony, 509 graduates, including 9 PhDs received their degrees during the sixth Convocation of martin Luther Chtristian University here on Monday.

The doctoral degrees were presented by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The postgraduate degrees were presented by the Visitor of the University, Governor Dr. KK Paul and Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma.

The bachelor’s degrees were presented by Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Sikyong (Prime Minister) of the Central Tibetan Administration.

Eight students were conferred with degrees for successfully completing their course in M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology, sixteen degrees were awarded to students of Master of Tourism Administration and 22 MBA degrees were also presented.

Degrees awarded in other fields included Master of Arts in Music (8 students), Bachelor of Business Administration (30 students), Master of Social Work (58), Bachelor of Social Work (30), Master of Computer Application (21), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (5), Bachelor of Computer Application (42), Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (5), Master of Science in Optometry (5), Bachelor of Science in Optometry (11), Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (9) and Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology (8)
