Governor issues poll notification
Governor Dr. KK Paul has notified the programme for the re-constitution of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council on the expiration of the present council. The filing of the nomination is schedule for February 5 till February 10 before 3 pm; the date of scrutiny of nomination papers is on February 10 after 3 pm and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is on February 12. Date of finalization and publication of valid nomination and allocation of symbol is on February 13. The date of poll is February 24 from 7 am to 4 pm and the counting of votes is on February 27.
Interaction with Sikyong
Dr Lobsang Sangay, Sikyong (Prime Minister) of the Tibetan Government in-exile, will have an interaction with the intelligentsia, students, academicians and members of the media at the State Convention Centre on February 4 from 5.30 pm to 7 pm.
Aid for Bishnupur fire victims
The monitoring cum implementation committee of the 19th South Shillong Constituency, in the presence of local MLA Sanbor Shullai and others, extended financial help of Rs 5000 each to fifteen shopkeepers whose shops were gutted in the fire incident at Bishnupur Market on January 31. The total amount of Rs 75000 was funded through the MLA-MDC salary earning of Sanbor Shullai.
