Ronnie finally joins ticket race

SHILLONG: The state unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to field candidates during upcoming Lok Sabha election from both Shillong and Tura.

The decision was taken during its first emergency executive committee meeting held here on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Secretary, AAP Meghalaya, Anthony Lyngdoh said the party has decided to invite applications for the Lok Sabha elections for both the seats in the State.

The meeting also decided to invite all the members of AAP, Meghalaya who had filled online applications. The party will also call for enrollment of members.

Ronnie files papers: Congress legislator Ronnie Lyngdoh on Tuesday applied for party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha seat from Shillong. Lyngdoh submitted the application before the MPCC president DD Lapang.

Besides Lyngdoh, other aspirants for the party ticket include sitting MP Vincent Pala, Congress leaders Charle Pyngrope and John Kharshiing.

The applications will be scrutinized on February 6 during the meeting of the State Election Committee.

Asked what had prompted him to apply for party ticket, Lyngdoh said that since there was no deadline fixed for submission of application, he decided to do so. “I have applied for the party ticket and now it is up to the party leadership to decide on the matter”, Lyngdoh said.

According to Lyngdoh, he would not have any regret even if he does not get the party ticket.
