st Class Magistrate, West Khasi Hills lodged a complaint at Nongstoin PS that on February 3, members of Nongstoin Sports Socio and Cultural Club violated the conditions of the permission granted by DC, West Khasi Hills, by allowing gambling in a fete organised by them at Tiehjan village (WKH). Gambling apparatus were seized.

Assault

On February 3 at around 7.30 pm, four unidentified persons assaulted one Boy Jana at Sadew village (EKH). Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong from where he was later shifted to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.

Robbery

On February 3 at around 3 pm, while one Bolero pick-up (ML-08B-1581) driven by Rana Mondol (26) was proceeding from Mellim weekly market (WGH) towards Mankachar, Assam, on reaching Goragre (WGH) under Garobadha OP, it was intercepted by a group of armed dacoits in two motorcycles (number not known). The dacoits fired one round at the windshield of the vehicle, in which three occupants of the vehicle Md. Saidul Islam (34), Phul Babu Mia (60) and Bokul Mia (30) sustained injuries. The dacoits also looted cash worth Rs. 1 lakh and cell phones from 18 occupants of the vehicle and also abducted the driver. Police recovered and seized one empty case of 7.65mm ammunition from the PO.

Sabotage

Benjamin V. Lyngdoh, Area Manager, Area-VIII, MeECL, Polo lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that February 1, unknown miscreants severed the stay-wire supporting an electric pole at Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong. As a result, the electric pole collapsed.
