SHILLONG: The Court headed by First Class Judicial Magistrate R Rymbai has granted bail to the two FKJGP leaders Eldie Newton Lyngdoh and Reginald Ronald Thabah even after the police wanted to try the two leaders in another 13 cases.

“We were planning to book the two FKJGP leaders in some more cases. But the court had granted bail to them,” East Khasi SP M Kharkrang said here on Wednesday.

When asked if the police had opposed the bail petitions of the two leaders, Kharkrang said that the police was never invited to the hearing of the bail petitions of the two leaders.

Earlier on Tuesday, the two FKJGP leaders who were booked under the Meghalaya Preventive Detention Act (MPDA) were finally released on bail.

Even though the MPDA order on both the leaders was revoked much earlier, they could not be released on bail due to their involvement in other criminal cases.
