Heavy security bandobast for Modi’s Guwahati rally

Guwahati: Narendra Modi will address his public rally here on Saturday under heavy security cover given the threat from fundamentalists to his life and the troubled situation in Assam and other parts of the Northeast.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the public rally to be addressed by the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate here as part of his all-India campaign before the forthcoming general election.
A team of Gujarat Police officials have arrived in the city to coordinate security arrangements for Modi’s rally with Assam Police. At least 150 commandos of Gujarat Police will be engaged to ensure security of the high profile BJP leader who is constantly guarded by National Security Guard (NSG) commandos. It was learnt that Gujarat government wanted to be sure about the security arrangement for its chief minister in Assam where insurgents are suspected to be on the prowl.
Earlier, the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) issued a statement through the media crticising Modi as a representative of colonial India and raised doubts over his sincerity and intention to solve the burning problems of indigenous populace in the State.
Modi is scheduled to address two rallies in the Northeast on the same day, one in Imphal in Manipur at 11 am and the second one here in the city at 1 pm. After arriving at Guwahati Airport from Imphal, Modi will be taken to National Games stadium in Guwahati by a helicopter.
From there he will take a car ride to the rally venue about four kilometers way.
General secretary of Assam State unit of the BJP, Santanu Bharali, informed that about four lakh people are expected to attend the rally in Guwahati.
The BJP has arranged for two special trains from Tinsukia and Dibrugarh to bring party workers and supporters to the rally.
More over 4000 buses will bring people from various parts of the state to Modi’s rally.
