SHILLONG: The Political Affairs department has asked the pro-ILP pressure groups to provide the names of all the 52 acts which were sought by them during the January 15 meeting with the Government.

An official dealing with the matter informed reporters on Friday that during the meeting, HNYF general secretary Sadon Blah had referred to the 52 existing laws on influx.

“We have asked him to send the names of all the acts so that the Government would be ) able to release their copies at the earliest,” the official said, while adding that the HNYF leader is yet to send the names of the acts which had resulted in the Government going slow on the matter. “We are seeking the list to check whether the acts available with us are the same ones they had asked for,” the official added.

Earlier, Co-Chairman of the State Planning Board, John F Kharshiing, had also spoken about the 52 existing acts which deal with the issue of influx.

Meanwhile, sources informed that the District Council Affairs department dispatched copies of five more acts to the pressure groups on Friday.

With this, the pressure groups have now been provided with copies of 11 acts related to influx out of the 52 demanded by them.
