SHILLONG: The Acting Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri has sought a report from the concerned departments on two Government servants executing contract works.

The matter came to light after an RTI was filed by UDP’s Mylliem unit adviser Stephan Lyngdoh.

The RTI documents revealed that the two government officials Aiborlang Kurkalang, Veterinary Field Assistant, Intensive Cattle Development Project, Upper Shillong, Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and Appollo Dorphang, river guard under Fisheries Department had executed contract works at Mylliem Community and Rural Development Block at 5th mile Upper Shillong. The contract works were awarded under the SRWP (MLA scheme of sitting legislator Ronnie Lyngdoh ) for 2008-09 and 2010-11.

The service rule of the State Government debars Government servants taking up contract works.

The Acting Chief Secretary said that action would be taken against those involved if the inquiry report indicates the violation of rule as the Government servants are not allowed to carry out contract works.
