JOWAI: Dr. W Ryngkhlem, former Rangbah Shnong of Khliehtyrshi village, on Tuesday admitted to have signed the letter authorizing Amwi-Khliehtyrshi MDC Madonbai Rymbai, the present Chief Executive Member of the JHADC, to withdraw the land compensation for the Jowai Bypass.

Dr. Ryngkhlem, a qualified veterinarian, also said that he had signed the letter while he was the Rangbah Shnong in 2009-10.

“In September 2010, I tendered my resignation as Rangbah Shnong. Since then I have no further information on either the land compensation or the money that was received by the MDC (Rymbai),” Dr. Ryngkhlem said.

The total amount paid as compensation was meant to be handed over to the Executive Committee of the Dorbar Shnong so that the same could be deposited in the Dorbar Shnong’s bank account.

The former Rangbah Shnong claimed that after he resigned from the post of headman, he had no knowledge of the position and status of the land compensation.

“The allegation made by the RTI activists from Khliehtyrshi against me is false and baseless,” Dr. Ryngkhlem stated.

The former Rangbah Shnong further alleged that the Dongpohsiej, Khliehtyrshi, had three plots of land including Madan Iungskur and Madan Pyniap Sniang, which the JHADC CEM had registered in his name without the knowledge or consent of any of the local residents.
