Appeals for cooperation from GH NGOs

TURA: The breakaway faction of the GNLA formerly known as the GNLA (F) and currently the Achik Songna Anpachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) has strongly refuted the allegations made against its commander-in-chief, Reding T Sangma by its mother group the GNLA.

In a statement issued here on Monday the Deputy Commander in Chief of ASAK, Chue Dilsrang claimed that during his stint as the Finance Secretary of the GNLA, Reding was prevented from executing his duties as per his designation and had never extorted money for his own benefits.

He added that his post was for namesake only and that he never had a hand in financial matters as Sohan himself took complete charge of matters relating to finance ultimately even stripping him off the post of Finance Secretary.

On allegations that Reding made off with Rs 70 lakhs from the GNLA the Deputy C-in-C stated that Reding could have made off with a much more larger amount if he had intended to as the GNLA was far more financially well off and questioned the logic behind the allegations.

He rubbished claims that Reding had been the one and only one to have killed a fellow cadre and pointed out that he was then merely a Finance Secretary adding that it would have been impossible to take matters into his own hands when Sohan had complete power over all in the outfit.

Meanwhile, assuring that it had no intention of making enemies or going against any other groups working in the interests of the Garo people the militant leader also appealed to NGOs and social organizations in the region like AMA, GNC, GSU, FAF, Mothers’ Union, AAYF, AYWO, ADE, ASWA, AIGU and others to cooperate with them in working for the welfare of the Garos as a whole.
