Agartala: BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday called for support to his party candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Tripura.
While addressing Nava Chetna rally at Vivekananda Maidan here this evening,  Modi said, “Give two Lok Sabha seats to BJP and strengthen our strive  to change government at the Centre. I promise I will give back prosperity and development in return”.
Modi slammed  the Marxist led government for under-development and silence in the national politics over problems of the state. “Tripura had political stability for the past 2 decades. How come poverty is still rising and development is running at such slow pace?” he asked. He slammed the state government over its industrial policies.
“Tripura is having all natural conditions suitable for rubber cultivation and yet we are having nearly no value addition involved. Our rubber cultivators are suffering due to absence of proper plans to incorporate commercial values to the produce”, Modi said and added that the BJP would work for holistic development of all states of India’s northeast alongwith the rest of the nation if the party comes back to power in the next Lok Sabha polls.
He criticized the state government for lack of programmes in commercializing herbal products of the state as well.
Modi charged the Congress party as well over corruption, lack of decision and action in developing the State. “The nation needs a strong leadership today. We need somebody in power who thinks of development of the country and development alone”. He batted for the BJP led National Development Alliance (NDA) and urged people of the state to vote for BJP.
Upholding the Gujarat model of development, Modi said that Tripura’s ruling Left Front has failed to provide security of livelihood to its people due to which residents of the state have to move out in search of jobs in other states even after 63 years of Independence.
The BJP veteran raised vehement criticism against the Left Front led third front in national politics.
Terming the third alliance ‘birds of election’, he said these birds are born before each Parliament election and live for 150 days at the highest.
