Agartala: Without upliftment of socio-economic condition of people, creation of new state would not address the core problems of the people, said Executive Member (EM) of autonmous tribal council Radha Charan Debbarma has said.
While speaking to media, the EM on Sunday said that people had raised demanded creation of ten small states after formation of Talengana. In some region the movement for separate states has turned violent.
Demand for creation of Darjeeling, Gorkhaland in West Bengal and Bodoland in Assam, has been scaling up new height.
The same demand has been intensifying in Kashmir and Vidhrbha (Maharashtra).
He said the BJP is in favour of creation of small states while the Congress is supporting the saffron party’s concept. “The supremacy of Centre will be increases if smaller region gets statehood status”, he cautioned.
Mr. Debbarma said after the defeat of Congress-INPT in the last Assembly elections, the IPFT has raised demand separate statehood status for Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) by publishing a map refueling the secessionist movement.
Referring to the creation of TTAADC by amending the Constitution (22nd), Mr. Debbrma said this amendment has not been expended in other areas considering its adverse affect.
Noting that the unity and integrity of the country will be under threat after formation of smaller states, Debbarma pointed out poverty, illiteracy and lack of development still persist in Jharkhand ever after creation of new state curving out of Bihar.
Reiterating that division is Tripura would not be allowed, the EM said of total total 58 RD Blocks, a total of 53 RD Blocks either fully or partially part of tribal council areas.
“ It will be fatal for traditional bond between tribal and non-tribal people if Tripura is divided. People should raise voice any attempt to divide the state”, he said.
