Jorhat: Assam government will formulate a policy for overall development of youth in the state, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said here  Saturday.
“A state-level youth council is also on the anvil,” he said while speaking at the concluding function of the three-day State Youth Festival 2014 at Kachari Maidan here.
The festival will help in fostering camaraderie and bonhomie among the participants and bringing out the hidden talents to the fore, he added. “This kind of festival must be organised at the district-level to unearth latent talents and to bring about emotional integration, apart from inculcating discipline and a competitive spirit among the youth,” he said.
Gogoi further said that the youth festival provides a proper platform for evolving ideas among the participants. “New innovative ideas emerge only through exchange of views,” he said.
Gogoi gave away awards to sports persons who excelled at the international-level and financial assistance to sports associations recognised by the Assam Olympic Association for participating in national competitions. (PTI)
