Mawlai, Mawrynkneng eke out U-14 victories

SHILLONG: Mawlai had to come from a goal behind to defeat Lummawbah 2-1 in a match of the U-14 Football Tournament at Polo Grounds on Tuesday, while Mawryng-kneng beat Laitumkhrah 1-0 in the other match of the day.

Joshua Wahlang helped Lummawbah take the lead in the 35th minute, but his goal was cancelled out by Mebanteilang Marbaniang’s two minutes later. Robert Khongrieh broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, sealing the victory for Mawlai.

In the other fixture, Mewankitbok Nongspung scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute, winning the contest for Mawryngkneng.

On Wednesday, Marbisu take on Lumshyiap, while Nongumlong play Laitkor. Both games will take place at 4:00pm at Polo Grounds.

Results from last week: Mawlai 13 beat Umsohsun 1, Pohkseh 0 drew with Lawmali 0, Mawkhar 10 beat Lumshyiap 0, Nangkiew Irat 6 beat Lummawbah 0, Smit 4 beat Laitkor 0 and Laitlyngkot 2 beat Mawklot 0.
