Opp to fix House session agenda today

SHILLONG: The Opposition Meghalaya People’s Front (MPF) will meet at the residence here on Tuesday to chalk out its action plan for the Budget session of the state assembly starting from Friday.

Informing this here on Monday, Opposition Leader Dr Donkupar Roy, in whose residence the meeting will be held, said that the meeting would decide on the important issues to be raised by the Opposition.

The Opposition is likely to take up the issues of education scam involving the Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, spurt in militant activities in Garo Hills, allegations of nexus of the Chief Minister with Garo Hills militants and the delay on the part of Government to solve the issue of influx during the session. The issue of Government protecting the former JHADC member MD Rymbai, who was allegedly involved in a scam of over Rs 2 crore, would also be taken up by the Opposition.

While the Governor KK Paul will address the House on the first day of the Budget session on March 7, the full fledged Budget for 2014-15 will be presented on March 19 by the Chief Minister, who holds the finance portfolio. The session will conclude on March 26.

Out of the 13 full working days, 9 days are allotted for Government business, while the number of days allotted for the private members is 4.
