SHILLONG: Amid reports that Congress is trying to woo the UDP members to get their support to form the next EC in KHADC, UDP leader Dr Donkupar Roy asserted that there was no question of working with Congress.

Asked whether Congress had sent feelers to rope in UDP members to form an Executive Committee led by Congress, Dr Roy said, “Whether we are approached or not, it is impossible for UDP to join hands with Congress.”

According to the UDP president, the party will stick by the decision of All Regional Parties Alliance to form the EC in KHADC. “We are committed to be with the alliance of the regional parties”, he added.

Meanwhile, the District Council Affairs Minister HDR Lyngdoh said that the Congress Parliamentary Party Leader P.N Syiem has been entrusted with the task of exploring ways and means to form the next EC in KHADC.

Lyngdoh said the issue of fielding a candidate for the post of Chairman would be decided on Tuesday.
