Women’s Day

lInternational Women’s Day celebration will be organised by the Department of Social Welfare on March 8 at U Soso Tham Auditorium at 11 am. Chief Secretary BPO Warjri will be the chief guest on the occasion and prominent women organisations and NGOs are expected to attend the meeting.

lThe District Social Welfare Officer, West Jaintia Hills would also celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 at Tpep Pale Club Hall, Jowai from 10:30 am.

lThe Shillong Assamese Ladies Welfare Club will observe International Women’s day on March 8 at Assam Club premises, Laban at 3pm.

Workshop

Directorate of Census Operation, Meghalaya in collaboration with department of statistics, NEHU will organise a workshop on census info software and date dissemination of census 2011 on March 7 at the Conference hall, NEHU AT 9.30 AM. NEHU Vice Chancellor will be the chief guest.

Telecast

DDK Shillong will telecast a Live Crop Seminar on March 7 from 1 pm to 3 pm from Mowkahaw West Jaintia Hills Dist under the aegis of Mass Media Support to Agricultural extension. More than three hundred farmers from adjoining villages will assemble in the interactive session between experts from State Agriculture and allied sector departments and the farmers. On the spot solution will be provided on various aspects of Crop Science, live stock management, marketing, sericulture, pond management, Climate resilient agriculture, Agro advisories.

Celebration

The Shillong Central Rongali Bihu committee will celebrate Bohag Bihu with a three-day long programme from April 14. In this regard a new Bihu celebration committee was formed with Dr Utpal Hazarika and Hasib Ahsan as president and general secretary respectively.
