Agartala: Blame game between Northeastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) and Oil Natural Gas Corporation of India (ONGC) has uncertain the future of 101 MW gas based Monarchak power plant in Western bordering town of Tripura.

NEEPCO officials have been accusing ONGC of non compliance of gas supplying commitment to Monarchak project over the year but ONGC denied the allegation stating that the plant is still far away from receiving gas for power generation.

NEEPCO had announced to start generation in last March but after a year, the plant could not build required infrastructure rather since August last, the work was suspended due to internal problem between NEEPCO management and contractors, said Tripura Industries and Commerce minister Jitendra Chaudhury here Tuesday.

Meanwhile, ONGC Tripura Asset Manager V P Mahawar asserted that ONGC is ready to supply the committed 0.5 million metric standard cubic meter natural gas for Rs 951.47 Cr Monarchak project and about 80 percent of the work had already been completed.

Earlier, NEEPCO informed the ONGC had been delaying in supplying gas that resulted delay in commission of the project. They also alleged due to delay in commissioning of the project, NEEPCO has been incurring a loss of Rs 3.5 crore a month. (UNI)
