NEEPCO clarifies on Monarchak Project

Agartala: NEEPCO has termed the news item provided by UNI — “Monarchak Project becomes uncertain” — as totally misleading. In a statement, NEEPCO on Wednesday clarified that erection works of gas turbine unit of the project were completed in September,2013 well ahead of schedule and since then the project is awaiting commencement of supply of natural gas for its commissioning and there has been absolutely no problem between NEEPCO and any of its contractors. Rather, the contractual problem referred to in the news is between ONGC and their contractor who were assigned the works of developing facilities required for feeding gas to NEEPCO project which has resulted in suspension of works of ONGC since August, 2013. NEEPCO also took strong exception to the reported allegation of ONGC in stating that the plant is still far away from receiving gas for power generation. NEEPCO has been repeatedly informing all concerned of its readiness for commencing commissioning of the gas turbine unit on open cycle mode since August, 2013 which has also been duly authenticated by various Government agencies like CEA, NERPC and the Ministry of Power in various reports and communications
