TURA: The two day general conference of the All Garo Hills SSA LP School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSALPSTA) and the Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association (UPSTA) was held at Kusimkolgre SSA UP School, Williamnagar on March 7 and 8 in which Parliamentary Seceretary of Home (P) and Education, W D Sangma graced the occasion as the Chief (Contd in P-10)

During the conference a memorandum was also submitted to the Parliamentary Secretary mentioning a number of problems being faced by the Teachers.
Some of the demands mentioned in the memorandum included regularization of services of teachers as in other states of India, enhancement of SSA Teachers’ salary and Fourth Teachers’ salary among others.
Speaking as the Chief Guest during the programme, Sangma appealed to all the teachers to work hard for the betterment of the students and to bring quality education in their respective schools.
Sangma who himself was once a teacher shared his own experience as a teacher in the past. He said that teachers were the backbone of the nation.
