JOWAI: Several organisations in Jaintia Hills including the KSU Jaintia Hills District Unit, the AJYWO Central Body, the HNYF East Jaintia Zone, the FKJGP Khliehriat Circle along with the Synjuk Rangbah Shnong, East Jaintia have announced a two-day night road blockade from 7 pm till 5 am on March 20 and March 21 in protest against the adamant attitude of the State Government to repair National Highway 44.

“The decision was taken in a joint meeting held today at Khliehriat,” AJYWO president MH Dkhar informed.

“We had demanded immediate repair of the National Highway which has created inconvenience among the commuters due to the deplorable condition of the road but the government has failed to take any action,” Dkhar said.

He also requested the people to support the night road blockade which will be effective only in East Jaintia Hills District.
