Kohima: The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed by members of border villages in Dimapur asserted it would not allow any individual to occupy land which is under any dispute.
In a statement, JAC convener Hetokhu Awomi and secretary Akuto Tuccu said that following the news regarding nine houses gutted down in Rangapahar area, the JAC made a thorough investigation.
According to JAC’s findings, before the bifurcation of the then greater Assam into Assam and Nagaland, the present Naogaon Village had been established and the village now falls under the disputed area Along Dimapur (Nagaland) and Karbi Anglong (Assam) border.
JAC informed that two more villages, Tilla Bosti and Notun Bosti were established in recent years, extending towards Nagaland border by Debo Sharma (Gaon Burha of Tilla Bosti), Ranjit Nepali (GB, Notun Basti) and Mary, who was alleged ‘surrendered’ DHD cadre who hailed from Jorhat district, Assam.
JAC said these people had planned to open another village, Khukhri Bosti in the disputed area and began issuing site allocations to different individuals and against each site allotted, small huts were built to indicate ownership. The committee said unless permanent boundary demarcation was done in the border, JAC would not allow any individual to occupy land under dispute. Otherwise, the committee reminded that on October 16, 2010, two youths from Toulazouma Village – Lhikeyie (25) and Rokovilie Angami (28) were ‘murdered’ in the vicinity of the two villages while they were out ‘hunting for frogs’.
Their bodies were thrown on either sides of the railway track to make it appear like they have been hit by running train, alleged JAC. (UNI)
