Pine Mount KG admission case

SHILLONG: NPP legislator James K Sangma on Tuesday raised the issue of the delay in the announcement of the result for admission into the Kindergarten class in Pine Mount School, Shillong.
While raising the issue during Question Hour, Sangma said that the delay of the result had led to undue harassment for the parents who were seeking admission for their kids in the School.
“There were also uncertainties in the minds of the parents since they were not very sure about the future of their children due to this delay.
“The early announcement of the result would have allowed the parents to try admitting their children in other schools if they had failed to get admission in Pine Mount School,” Sangma pointed out.
The NPP legislator urged the Government to take necessary steps to ensure timely announcement of the admission result in the future.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Education Prof. RC Laloo explained the delay in the announcement of the result saying that certain procedures had to be complied with.
He said that the major factor which had led to the delay was because the Education department had to allot the seats as per the State Reservation Policy.
“We had to ensure that the distribution of seats was being done as per the State reservation policy,” he said.
He, however, assured that steps would be taken to ensure early announcement of the result in the years to come.
