Demseiniong SC win opener in invitational

SHILLONG: Demseiniong SC opened the 1st Meghalaya Invitation Local Football Tournament with a victory over Mawlai Combine via a tiebreaker here on Friday.

The tournament, organised by the Pay For Right Youth and Cultural Club, Malki, was opened by George Lyngdoh, East Khasi Hills District Sports Officer.

In his address Lyngdoh said that these types of tournaments can add to the experience of the youth of the state.

The club secretary Rilang Mylliempdah offered his thanks to the various sponsors who made the competition possible.

In Friday’s match, the two teams required a tiebreaker to separate them, which Demseiniong finally came through 4-3, booking a place in the second round.

There will be three matches held on Saturday.

In the first, Eighty’s FC will play Mawryngkneng Students at 12:30pm. FOTU Soccer Academy then take on Mawryngkneng Legend at 1:30pm, followed by the 2:30pm match between Dum Dum S&CC Nongthymmai and Kynshi Solid Target.
