Nirvana lead vocalist Kurt Cobain’s death case will not be re-opened but the police is planning to release new photos of the crime scene.
The singer was found dead at the age of 27 on April 8, 1994 at his house on Lake Washington Boulevard, three days after he actually died.
Police had ruled it as suicide at that time, reported Washington Post.
Ahead of Cobain’s 20th death anniversary next month, rumours began to swirl that his death case was being re-opened after it was reported that a Seattle police detective recently took another look at the case file.
However, Detective Renee Witt, who is a spokeswoman of the police quashed re-opening reports.
She said the detective had just found some old and undeveloped film, which provided better-quality photos of images already out there.
“No, we have not reopened the Kurt Cobain case. No change, no developments, no new leads,” Witt said adding that any report suggesting it was reopened are “very very incorrect.” Witt said police planned to release some of the new photographs on its blog and would answer questions on the anniversary of Cobain’s death which happens on April 5.
The released photos would not include images of Cobain’s dead body. Cobain’s body was discovered at his Lake Washington home by an electrician on April 8, 1994. It is believed that the singer had shot himself dead around four days earlier. (PTI)
