Agartala: With the Lok Sabha elections doing the round, the political parties have geared up for sweltering campaign in Tripura.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the state to address an election rally at Koroimura HS Ground in Sipahijala district on March 25.
The rally would be organized in favour of Congress candidate for West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency Arunoday Saha.
Speaking to media at Congress Bhavan here, PCC working president Asish Saha on Saturday said, “We have geared up fully after getting green signal from the Delhi about the visit of party vice president. The PCC had also a plan to organize another rally in support of party nominee for East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency Sachitra Debbarma but Rahul Gandhi could not give time. On the same day, he is scheduled to address three rallies in West Bengal”.
Saha said senior party leaders held meeting at Congress Bhavan on Friday night to prepare the stage for the big election rally.
A Special Protection Ground (SPG) team has already arrived to visit the venue for the election rally.
The team will also meet with top police officials to ensure foolproof security for the VVIP visit.
This will be Rahul’s third visit to the Marxist rule state during the past three years. In the last Assembly election-February last year, Rahul Gandhi addressed three election rallies but the party’s result was horrifying.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is all set to lead the ruling Left Front’s Lok Sabha campaign in Tripura this time. This time no central leader is coming to Tripura for election campaign.
The Left Front’s campaign will be entirely managed by Chief Minister himself with the help of senior party leaders like Bijan Dhar and former MP Khagen Das.
Party sources said the Chief Minister would attend as many as 22 rallies across the state during the campaign process.
Sources said the Chief Minister would join the party’s campaign trail outside the state after wrapping campaign in Tripura.
Sarkar, who is also a CPM politburo member will certainly campaign in West Bengal.
