All 10 nomination papers found valid

SHILLONG: The nomination papers of all the eight candidates for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat were found to be valid during the scrutiny of papers here on Monday. In the Tura Lok Sabha seat, too, the nomination papers of the two candidates in the fray were found to be valid.

The eight candidates who will lock horns in the election at the Shillong seat are sitting Congress MP Vincent H Pala, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh, BJP candidate Shibun Lyngdoh, AAP candidate Amerington Kharshiing,CPI candidate Richard Shabong and three independent candidates including Rev PBM Basaiawmoit, Denis Siangshai and Ivoryna Shylla.

Returning officer of Shillong seat Sanjay Goyal confirmed that all the papers were found to be valid.

In Tura, NPP veteran Purno Sangma and the young Congress candidate Daryl William Ch Momin are set to enter into a straight fight. Returning officer of Tura seat Pravin Bakshi informed that both the papers were found to be valid. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 26 (till 3 pm).
