Rights panel at the earliest, says Govt

SHILLONG: The State Government is committed to set up the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) at the earliest.

“We are initiating the process on a fast track mode,” a senior government official informed here on Monday.

According to the official, government would soon facilitate the process of searching the members of the commission.

Meanwhile, he informed that the passing of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (Salaries and Allowances and other Terms and Conditions of Service of the Members) Rules, 2014 in the recent Assembly budget session is an indication of the commitment of the Government.
