Margao (GOA): Dempo will aim to keep their winning momentum going as they look forward to move up the ladder against Churchill Brothers in the 22nd round of the I-League, here on Friday.

Dempo’s unbeaten run in the second phase was halted by Salgaocar, but they bounced back to beat Mohammedan Sporting in their last match to take their tally to 28 points from 20 matches.

Aiming to finish among the top five, a win on Friday will take them to third place, above Sporting Clube de Goa and Shillong Lajong FC.

After Tolgay Ozbey and Haroon Amiri joined the team, Dempo have raised their performance, winning five out of the six last matches and coach Arthur Papas will once again bank on them for victory.

The defence and the midfield has coordinated well while Clifford Miranda and Roberto Silva have done well to keep the attack moving.

On the other hand, Churchill Brothers are also looking to carry forward the good run in the AFC Cup into the I-League.

Churchill missed their playmaker Abdel Shabana due to a one-match suspension but went on to win against Pune FC in their last match to place themselves above Mohammedan Sporting with 18 points from as many matches.

A victory would put the defending champions on 21 points, tied with Rangdajied United FC, United SC and Mumbai FC, but with one game in hand for the Goans. (PTI)
