Illicit liquor destroyed; three bootleggers held

SHILLONG: SOT and SSB personnel along with magistrates raided many illegal liquor factories at Sohiong and destroyed as much as 17,100 litres of illicit liquor besides apprehending three persons on Monday.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang informed that the police team first destroyed 5000 litres of liquor and apprehended Bakstar Kharjana,and in a second raid destroyed 2000 litres of liquor and arrested one Dhar Kharrngi. Later, the police team again destroyed 1500 litres of liquor and arrested Brontis Kharmuti.

In yet another raid on a factory the team destroyed 8600 litres of illicit liquor but the owner managed to flee before the raid occurred.
