SHILLONG: Members of the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) have been invited to attend an international teachers’ conference to be held in Dublin, Ireland, from April 21-24.

KJDSTA president ED Nongsiang said on Tuesday that the invitation has come from the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation, Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland and Teachers’ Union of Ireland.

Besides Nongsiang, present treasurer of the association, AM Lyngwa, and the former treasurer Deborah Kyndiah, will attend the conference.

The KJDSTA chief said his team will raise the issue of the plight of school teachers in the State during the conference.

“We would be seeking the support of the teachers’ associations of different countries to improve the service conditions of the teachers in Meghalaya,” Nongsiang said.
