Election dept yet to clear Assembly poll dues

SHILLONG: At a time when preparations for Lok Sabha polls are going on in full swing, the election department is yet to pay the honorarium for the master trainers for the services they rendered during the Assembly polls last year.

The task of the master trainers was to train presiding and polling officers ahead of the Assembly polls.

According to sources, the files related to the matter are stuck at some level for a very long time with the master trainers at a loss.

While more than 10 master trainers have been deprived of over Rs 30,000 each in East Khasi Hills, many more in other districts are also to avail the money.
