Dissolution of UBCC by MPCC
UMROI: In a new twist to the dissolution of the Umroi Block Congress Committee (UBCC) by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), the leaders of the dissolved UBCC on Wednesday took a unanimous decision of demanding an immediate revoking of the dissolution of the UBCC and also to denotify the adhoc body of the UBCC from the MPCC before the MP elections.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the leaders and workers of the dissolved UBCC and its primary units and sub units convened by Umroi MLA Ngaitlang Dhar who is also the president of the dissolved UBCC at Madan Nongrah on Wednesday afternoon.
They also decided to send a delegation under vice president of the UBCC to meet MPCC President DD Lapang to submit their demand and depending on the outcome of the meeting the next series of action will be decided.
Addressing the gathering, Dhar said, “I was shocked and baffled to learn through the newspaper the UBCC was dissolved by MPCC president DD Lapang and it was done without consulting me or any functionaries of the UBCC.”
He however said that he was willing to accept the decision of the MPCC but hoped that they could resolve the matter amicably with the party high command regarding the dissolution of the UBCC so that they can work together.
Enraged over the constitution of the adhoc body of the UBCC by the MPCC, Umroi MDC, A Lyngdoh said, “I will not work with the adhoc body of the UBCC as my arch-rival in the recent MDC election M D Syiem is part and parcel of the body and there are people who are anti-Congress.”
Other speakers in the meeting fired salvo against Lapang by calling him over aged and he should relinquish from the post of MPCC president as he dissolved the UBCC without justification and any fact finding at the ground level.
They also alleged that Shillong MP and Congress candidate Vincent H Pala is behind the dissolution of UBCC as to avenge his personal enmity with the Umroi MLA as he failed twice in his plot to destroy Dhar.
