Rape-accused beaten to death

SHILLONG: One person identified as Yunder Mawlein succumbed to his injuries after he was beaten up by public at Mawkyrwat on April 1 for his alleged involvement in a rape case, a delayed report said on Friday. Police said that on April  1 an unknown KSU member informed Mawkyrwat Police over telephone that one Yunder Mawlein was assaulted by public at Mawkyrwat alleging that he was involved in a rape case at Mawkyrwat (SWKH).  Police later found Mawlein at KSU’s office at Mawkyrwat in a serious condition. He was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
