Election notice
The West Garo Hills DC has informed that all State Government offices, establishments and educational institutions shall remain closed on April 9 to enable voters to exercise their franchise in connection with the election to the Lok Sabha 2014.
Church service
North East India Fellowship of Charismatic Churches, Shillong, will organise the annual combine service of the different churches in the city at Jaiaw Shyiap community hall from April 11 to April 13 at 6 pm daily.
Science seminar
Laban Bengalee Boy’s Higher Secondary School organised the 11 inter- school science seminar on April 7 on the topic “Use of mobile technology is an environmental hazard”. 14 schools from Shillong participated in the seminar. Pallavi Sarkhel from Loreto Convent, Kevin Anthony from St. Edmund’s and Riddhi Dey from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School bagged the first, second and third prize, respectively.
Office bearers
Laban Pyllun Taxi Drivers’ & Owners’ Association has elected new office bearers including H John Roy Lyngdoh (president), HD Nongrum (vice president) and Sandy Kharjana (general secretary), among others.
The Dorbar Shnong of Qualapatty elected new office bearers of Dorbar for 2014-2017. The newly elected office bearers are Martamlin Pyrbot (Rangbah Shnong), Yone Rymbai (Assistant Rangbah Shnong and Snelson N Chyne (general secretary), among others.
Unclaimed body
One Bipul of Polo area was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital and expired on April 3. The relatives of the deceased have been asked to collect the body within three days failing which the body would be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

Apropos the news item “Have cent percent attendance in Parliament, claims Wansuk” (ST, April 7, 2014) the report was sourced to Rajya Sabha data during her brief first term. Her full six years second term is yet to commence since she has not taken oath as yet.
