lA passenger travelling on a Maruti tourist taxi from Shillong to Puriang died on the spot when the vehicle overturned on a turning due to the inability of the driver to control the vehicle. The incident happened at Mawsawa under Mawryngkneng Block, East Khasi Hills on the April 12 at 1:00 PM. The injured, Bidawanbha Dhar (20/F) was shifted to Mawryngkneng PHC where she was declared dead.
lA motorist sustained injuries after falling off from the motorbike (MLO7A – 6350) when it skidded on a turning at Kamari under Tikrikilla Block, West Garo Hills. The motorist Serdin Sangma (19/M) was taken to Tikrikilla PHC. The incident happened on April 12 at 6:53 AM.
lA pedestrian suffered severe crush injuries in the left leg when the tyre of a truck accidentally drove over him. The incident happened at Puriang under Mawryngkneng Block, East Khasi Hills on April 11 at 5:21 PM. The pedestrian, Roy Lawai (45/M) was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital.
lBenjamin Sangma (40/M) sustained injuries when the auto-rickshaw he had boarded from Ampati market fell into a drain near the indoor stadium at Ampati under Betasingh Block, South West Garo Hills. Sangma was shifted to Ampati CHC.
lA driver and helper of a loaded truck which was heading towards Guwahati drove off towards the side the road and into a gorge after the vehicle developed some technical snag. The incident happened at Myntdu under Thadlaskein Block, West Jaintia Hills on the April 10 at 2:53 PM. The driver Ajoy Nath (30/M) and Manosh Nath (29/M) was taken to Jowai Civil Hospital.
lRiconess Nongsiej (28/M) sustained injuries after he was hit by a motorbike while walking on the side of the road at Lumshyiap, Shillong. The incident occurred when Riconess Nongsiej was walking back home after casting his vote on April 9 at 8:56 AM. The motorbike fled the scene after the collision. He was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital.
lThree occupants of a jeep sustained injuries when the vehicle fell into a drain on the side of the road at Umkrem under Mawthadraishan Block, West Khasi Hills. The jeep was travelling towards Maweit from Mawkyrwat after two of the occupants had finish casting their vote at Mawkyrwat and were travelling back home. The victim, Jenisstar Thongni (26/M) was shifted to Tirot Memorial Hospital, Mairang while Piorio Sherkon (24/F) and Wanshembor Sherkon (4/M) were shifted to NEIGRIMHS, Shillong. The incident happened on April 9 at 4:05 PM.
lA truck travelling towards Byrnihat from Nongpoh fell into a drain after the driver lost control of the vehicle at Downgate, Nongpoh under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District. Montri Boro (15/M) and Raj Boro (12/M) were thrown of the vehicle and sustained injuries due to the impact when the truck fell into the drain. The injured were shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital. The incident happened on April 9 at 10:06 AM.
lTo avoid a collision with another car coming from the opposite direction a Mahindra Max drove off towards the side near the Toyota showroom at Mawiong on the April 9 at 4:50 AM. The vehicle was coming from Dimapur and was travelling towards Shillong when the accident happened. The injured, Fr. Pascal Lyngdoh (52/M), Ambrose Dohtdong (32/M) and Jeremiah Lyngdoh (27/M) were taken to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.
In all the above cases, the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at the respective locations helped in shifting the injured to various hospitals.
