SHILLONG: Tornado Cricket Club defeated 1st MLP by 10 runs in the final of the SCA Second Division Cricket League organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at the Cricket Ground, Polo on Saturday.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Tornado managed 115 runs in 19.3 overs losing all their wickets.
Pawan Chettri scored 28 runs of 24 balls, while Royal Marwein shone with the red cherry for 1st MLP scalping 4 wickets for 15 runs in his allotted 4 overs.
In reply 1st MLP finished 10 runs short of their target, scoring 105/8 in their full quota of 20 overs.
Roof Raja scored 23 runs in 25 balls, while Debashish took 2/20 runs in 4 overs for the winners.
Both teams have qualified for the next season’s First Division Shillong League.
Royal Marwein of 1st MLP was named Man of the Match while Joy Sorkar of Tornado CC was adjudged
Man of the Tournament.
The prizes and trophies were given away by N Bhattacharjee, general secretary of MCA and Gideon Kharkongor, general secretary of SCA, among others.
